Ann McCutchan teaches creative nonfiction writing at the University of North Texas and is the author of books, essays, articles, and music libretti. She is currently working on a musical coming-of-age memoir situated on the ocean coasts of Florida and Louisiana.
Critical Description of Work:
I started life as a classical and experimental musician, so my early writing centered on music. But my musical impulses have always been intimately bound to my experiences in the natural world of Florida, where I grew up, and to which I continue to return. Believe it or not, a Mozart Scherzo and a mosquito?s whine can be discussed in the same essay.
